DAY 2: One of several photos from our hotel window of the Matterhorn at dawn as the sun slides down the slopes. ![]() Downtown Zermatt ![]() Craig is ready to go! ![]() This is roughly the route: Zermatt, Vist, Brig, Andermatt, Discentic, Chur, Thusis, St. Moritz. The 7.5 hour trip over the 169 miles of narrow-gauge track has 291 bridges and 91 tunnels, with a peak elevation of 6,670 feet at the Oberalp Pass near Andermatt.
