Galapagos Day 3 (12/5): Fernandina in the morning, Isabela in the afternoon.

Fernandina

Fernandina is a young island with black lava flows, large marine iguana colonies, flightless
cormorants, and a dramatic backdrop of volcanoes.

This is OUR island!

Everywhere, and sometimes hard to see.

Oops, I'm too cute to be in this photo sequence!

Do not disturb! Black Oystercatcher will not return to the nest if we scare her away.

I claim this rock!

In fact, I claim all you can see...

OK, but we'll never be close friends.

I'm fancy!

I'm even fancier!

Awww.

Chris, one of the naturalists, always walks barefoot on the hikes.

This lava is called a'a in Hawaiian - basically "oow oow!"

Brown Pelican and sea lions together - must be good fishing.

Sea turtle pokes up his head.

As does this Marine iquana.

And continuing the theme...

The lone explorer/photographer.

Oh oh, these guys are preventing us from leaving their island.

Isabella

A Zodiac ride along the coast on the lookout for Galapagos fur seals and penguins.

Lava tubes and interesting formations

Interesting formation with zodiac in foreground (forewater?).

The endemic Galapagos Penquin, breeds and lives here, farther north than any other.

Another lovely sunset.

End of Day 3. Please go on to Day 4!
