Machu Picchu Day 9 (12/11): Flight to Cusco, a Festival, an Alpaca Farm, then on to Urubamba

Impressive Andes

Cusco at altitude of over 11,000 feet.

Cusco Festival

Cusco Main Square has an unusual festival, a surprise to our tour leaders.

Lots of costumes to reenact an event.

We had lunch here - and first taste of coco tea.

Driving to and visiting the Alpaca Farm

We head out in a bus, climbing even higher, to visit an alpaca farm and store.

This farm is the Vicugna family (Alpaca and Vicuna)

This skinny guy is the Vicuna, thin and coat is not generous, but so soft that very expensive

New friends.

The farm/factory/market.

I'm almost cuddly.

Heading to the Urubamba Valley for an open market.

Lovely view of the valley

Crops and fields in the valley.

The Market at Pisac

The women's felt hats fascinate me.

Lotsa Corn, but it doesn't look at all like the US Midwest!

End of Day 9. Please go on to Day 10!
