First day in Lhasa, Tibet

Our hotel in Lhasa. Quite comfortable.

Lovely wide walkway

Potala Palace, home of Dalai Lamas, dominates the city skyline.

Yes, we have to climb these steps to the top!

And climb...

And climb...

Worth the effort: the view is striking!

Finally, almost at the top

Watch out, she has a cane...

Wonderful views all the way down.

Back to street level

Little girls mug for the camera.

This one is for Peri.

Potala Palace from Potala Park across the street.

Jokhang Temple

Ancient Jokhang is perhaps the holiest monastary in Tibet.

Thriving market has grown up around Jokhang, where pilgrims walk around the circumference, keeping their right side to the temple.

Fountain in Jokhang Temple

The guys walked up to the roof.

We walked the circumference.

New hat!

Some pilgrims make their way to the temple by prostrating themselves on the ground with every move forward.

Just liked the store name.
